Connecting with Community Opportunities

Robert recently reminded us in an update to Directors e-blast that, “Leigh’s vision of a CC community in every neighborhood and on every corner to bless and serve families is very possible. Every indicator tells us that homeschooling is going to grow tremendously this fall. Work with your SR for guidance on any other solutions you can offer your community this fall, but regardless of the circumstances, our goal is to serve families. How can we serve them? There are so many options!”
"Your work is your worship," Robert reminded us on the Facebook Live today. If you didn’t get a chance to join the Facebook Live event at Classical Conversations, Inc., click here or on the video to watch. Please share with your families and on your personal Facebook page!

Do you want more ways to connect?
During these uncertain times, practicing the art of belonging is all the more important. During family interviews, watch parties and parent orientations:
- Connect with your families, other community members, and those new to homeschooling
- Incorporate the culture of belonging alongside parent equipping by working on skills together
- Integrate the CC Core Values GHIDE (grace, humility, integrity, diligence, excellence) in conversations
What better way is there to lay the foundation for the upcoming school year than to meet with parents and students alike? Read how Foundations and Essentials Director Neisha Teer, Texas, integrates our CC Core Values with her community and in family interviews.

Tips & Tricks for Social Media
Social media has long been a resource for Directors to reach inquiring families, encourage their communities, and promote local events. Facebook Live is an effective tool to accomplish this goal.
Jeremiah Wentz, Director of Digital Marketing and Promotions, shares five keys to hosting a Facebook Live video. He addresses lighting, angle, connection, value, and chat box. Click to be informed!

Business Checklist
As you are approaching the start of the 2020-21 academic year, please remember to refer to your Director Licensing Guidelines (page 51) for the success checklist for July and August. Below are a few essential business items that you will want to attend to in a timely way:
- Registrations and fees: Add families/students to your program and post payments in the Classical Portal. If the family is new to CC, make sure they are registered in CC Connected so their information is available in the Portal.
- First semester: Working with your community and team leader, reference Robert’s COVID-19 Update Eblast for ideas in planning first semester.
- Tutor meeting: Foundations/Essentials Directors should hold their first tutor planning meetings. After the start of the community, subsequent tutor meetings are held every six weeks.

International Updates
The Lord is moving in Brazil!
Homeschooling has traditionally been considered to be illegal in Brazil, but the tide is turning and thousands of concerned parents have begun teaching their children at home. Because of the experience Mark and I have had as missionaries to Brazil for 25 years and having homeschooled our five children, the Lord has opened up a wide door to encourage these parents.
God laid it on our hearts about three years ago to begin to provide solidly Christian homeschool materials for Portuguese speakers, and in His providence, Classical Conversations has come to Brazil. We are seeing phenomenal interest and growth in the program. In our second year as CC Brazil, we have 70 communities, 70 Directors and eight Area Supervisors, to lead 700 students. Parents are testifying to the blessing CC has been already in this great nation.
Our challenges are many, and we appreciate your prayers for CC Brazil as we move forward. We are building our leadership team, translating curriculum, reaching out to families, and organizing communities, all without a guarantee that the Brazilian government will in the end accept homeschooling as a legitimate means of educating children. But we are confident that the Lord’s hand is upon this project, and He will open the doors for His glory!
